The child’s mother described her distress at her son’s recurrent abuse in a brief interview done in Yoruba. She disclosed: “I work at the school where my son was beaten by the teacher. She was not going to do that for the first time. I informed the school, but they took no action. His father passed away, so I am alone. For a living, I work at menial occupations. I want Nigerians to assist me with my son’s schooling and to see justice done for him.
Notwithstanding the difficulties, the mother’s appeal has highlighted her trials as a single parent and her resolve to provide her child a brighter future.
