The speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, described the difficulties the legislature experienced before October 30th in a live broadcast by Symfoni. “We were completely taken aback by the events that transpired before to October 30th, particularly in the legislature. The handful of us who had faith in our beloved Governor, however, remained steadfast. Some people challenged us, and I recalled calling His Excellency once and saying, “Your Excellency, please, sir, keep in mind that I have a court case.” I was crying at the moment because I was the only one with legal proceedings pending.”
He went on to narrate a moment of reassurance from the Governor. “I spoke to him and very softly he said, ‘Don’t you believe in God?’ While I was crying, I said, ‘Yes sir, I believe sir.’ He said, ‘Don’t worry, God is in charge.’ And I said, ‘Thank you, sir.'”
Oko-Jumbo expressed pride in their perseverance, concluding, “Today I am proud and happy that, just like the Chief Judge said, when history will be told, when it will be written in times to come, by God’s grace, our names will be written in gold.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
