In order to fight Nigeria’s ruling party in the 2027 election, noted political analyst Arc Uche Rochas has proposed for a united opposition ticket that includes Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.In a recent post on X, Rochas emphasized the need to overlook distractions from critics and PDP governors, framing the upcoming election as a critical battle between the people and a corrupt political class.

Rochas’ proposal comes on the heels of significant developments within Nigeria’s opposition.In March 2025, Atiku confirmed a coalition with Obi, former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and other key stakeholders, aiming to unseat President Tinubu.The move follows Tinubu’s controversial declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State, which has deepened political tensions. The opposition is exploring the Social Democratic Party as a potential platform for their 2027 bid, especially after El-Rufai’s defection from the APC.
