Ballon d’Or helping me recover fast from injury — Rodri

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has revealed that winning the Ballon d’Or has been a motivating factor in his recovery from injury.

Rodri is sidelined with an ACL injury that he picked up three months ago.

The Ballon d’Or winner was pivotal for Man City’s Premier League and UEFA Super Cup triumphs last season.

He also helped his country, Spain, win the Euro 2024 title over the summer.

The Spaniard scored nine goals and provided 14 assists in 50 games across competitions for Manchester City, helping him win the Ballon d’Or ahead of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.

Speaking to Four Four Two, Rodri said he is keen to return to action for Manchester City before the end of the season.

“Everything seems to be going well with my rehab. Because of my injury, the award has been like a bottle of oxygen for me.

“I want to come back this season; that would be important for me. I don’t know if I can, but I’d like to be involved for a month or two and finish the season,” he said.
