BREAKING NEWS: All pornographic websites in Nigeria must be blocked, according to a directive by the Nigerian House of Representatives to the Nigerian Communications Commission, or NCC.

The motion was sponsored by Dalhatu Tafoki, a politician from Katsina State who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Tafoki, who moved the motion that resulted in the resolution’s passage, claimed that Nigeria had not done enough to combat cyberpornography and that it was becoming a worldwide issue.

He claims that Nigeria is a “very religious country” where major religions forbid and teach against vulgarity and nudity. The politician continued by saying that legislation prohibiting pornography have been passed in a number of Asian, African, and Middle Eastern nations. The congressman from Katsina used sociologists’ and psychiatrists’ cautions about the harmful effects of pornography to emphasize his point. He asserted that pornography might result in addiction, prostitution, and infidelity. “World-renowned psychologists and sociologists have warned of the psychological, sociological, and mental repercussions of pornographic viewing,” he stated.
