After news of the scam broke, angry victims stormed the building, breaking furniture, smashing windows, and scattering documents in their search for justice. The damage is more than physical – it represents the pain and betrayal felt by those who trusted CBEX.
One of the victims, Quadri, a young phone repairer, shared his story. He had invested all he had, hoping to grow his business. Instead, he lost everything. Speaking with strong emotion, he said, “Anything that I didn’t see, I can’t do again. If someone tells me about an online business, I may use a cutlass to cut them. Because for me to not see that thing and not to know what they are using my money to do, so I can’t do it again.”
His words show deep frustration and a lack of trust in anything that can’t be seen or touched. Another victim added, “Me, I can’t do it again. 100% I can’t.”
Now, the CBEX building is a sad reminder of what can happen when people fall for fraud.
