Chinedu Eze Disclose he was imprisoned for 14yrs for not lying that a police escort killed his escortee

 

Chinedu Eze, founder of the Chinedu Eze Foundation, has shared the story of how he spent 14 years in prison awaiting trial. He said that back in 2005, some police officers framed him after he refused to lie about a murder.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Speaking in an exclusive interview with News Central TV, Eze explained that he was a driver who helped clients move vehicles across long distances. In 2004, he was assigned to drive a vehicle to Sokoto with the vehicle’s owner and a police escort. On getting to Sokoto, they met a police checkpoint where the officers asked for the vehicle’s documents and later started arguing with the owner over customs papers. According to Eze, the officers got angry, overpowered the escort, and dragged the vehicle owner into their own van.

Eze said they asked him to follow them and later told him to write a false statement at the station that the police escort had killed the vehicle owner on the way. He said that was when he found out the vehicle owner had died and he refused to lie against the police escort. Eze said he was eventually charged to court where he was accused of conspiring with the police escort to kill the owner of the vehicle. He said he denied the charges immediately in court, however, he was sent to prison and kept there for 14 years while awaiting trial. He said in 2019 he was finally acquitted and released.

In Eze’s words: “They told me that I would have to make a statement that they want me to make. I said okay what is the statement, They said the statement is that the other policeman who escorted the vehicle (because they had a heated exchange of words with him) on the way killed the owner of the vehicle. That was when I knew that the owner of the vehicle was dead”
