According to PUNCH, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has stated that he and other supporters of President Bola Tinubu were aware of his purportedly phony Chicago State University degree and previous drug-related scandals, but they still supported him in the 2023 election because they thought he would be a good president.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
In an interview with BBC Hausa that garnered media attention on Saturday, El-Rufai said that they were disappointed in Tinubu’s leadership and that they had higher expectations of him.
He criticized the current administration, saying it has not met expectations, according to him, many who stood by Tinubu are now regretting their decision.
El-Rufai also urged opposition leaders to unite under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
He called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and ex-Minister Rauf Aregbesola to join the party.
Reflecting on the political fight between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Atiku, El-Rufai recalled that he sided with Obasanjo at the time.
He insisted it was not about regional politics but about choosing the right side.
Expressing his disappointment with the current administration, El-Rufai, expressed his thoughts.
“What pains me is that the government we supported and had confidence in would do well because we saw what Tinubu did in Lagos despite his challenges.”
“We all know about his issues in Chicago, but we thought if he could replicate his work in Lagos for Nigeria, let’s support him. However, he failed,” he said.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
