EPL: What I told Van Nistelrooy before Leicester City job – Maresca

Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca has revealed what he told Ruud van Nistelrooy before the Dutchman took the Leicester City job.

Van Nistelrooy was recently appointed as Leicester City’s new manager after leaving his role as interim manager of Manchester United.

However, the former Manchester United striker spoke with Maresca, who led Leicester to Premier League promotion last season.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of Chelsea’s away Premier League clash with Southampton on Wednesday night, Maresca said he told Van Nistelrooy that Leicester is a ‘fantastic club.’

“He called me days ago before he took over there,” Maresca said.

“We had a conversation, I told him Leicester is a fantastic club, great people. In the end, he decides to go.”
