Etsu Nupe turbans ex-DCG as Galadima Gari Nupe

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has reaffirmed the traditional institution’s commitment to honouring individuals who contribute significantly to the development of the Nupe Kingdom, Niger State, and humanity at large.

Abubakar stated this at the turbanning ceremony of DCG Aliyu Galadima-Saidu (rtd) as the Galadima Gari Nupe, at his Wadata palace in Bida, Bida Local Government Area of the state.

Abubakar, who is also the Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, stressed that titles are reserved for persons of impeccable character who demonstrate genuine concern for the socio-economic well-being of the emirate.

“Recognizing selfless service would encourage others to emulate exemplary leadership for the nation’s benefit,” he said.

The monarch urged highly placed individuals to drive development in their communities and the country.

The Etsu Nupe also appealed to privileged Nupes to support their less fortunate brethren, while emphasizing on wealth circulation and brotherly care.

Furthermore, he challenged Diaspora-based Nupe sons and daughters to return home and establish industries, and thereby foster socio-economic growth.

Speaking, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago described the new Galadiman Gari Nupe as an outstanding figure during his Nigeria Customs Service tenure.

He also acknowledged the Etsu Nupe’s efforts in preserving the Nupe Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage.

Responding, Alhaji Saidu, the new Galadima Gari Nupe, thanked God and the Etsu Nupe for the honour while pledging to uphold the throne of the Nupe Emirate as well as
bring socioeconomic development to the area.
