Dele Momodu, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed his disappointment over Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s handling of his political supporters. In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Momodu said he was taken aback by Fubara’s failure to personally reach out and appreciate those who stood by him during the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State.

Momodu explained that many individuals rallied behind Fubara purely out of belief in his leadership and not because they sought financial rewards. Despite their loyalty and sacrifices, he noted, Fubara did not make the effort to call or acknowledge them. He emphasized that a simple phone call would have gone a long way in strengthening the bond between Fubara and his supporters. Momodu suggested that small gestures of gratitude are essential in politics, especially when people are risking their safety and livelihoods for a cause.

According to him, several of Fubara’s loyalists personally complained about the governor’s lack of outreach. They reportedly expressed frustration that after putting so much on the line, they received no acknowledgment or encouragement from the very person they were defending.

Momodu relayed their sentiments, stating that supporters told him they were risking everything for Fubara in Rivers State, yet he had not made the effort to even check on them. He described this as an unfortunate oversight on the governor’s part.

According to him, “It is unfortunate, because a lot of people have complained to me that, hey, Philip, do you know that this man, we are dying and risking everything for him in Rivers, he doesn’t reach out to them?”
