Nollywood actor and producer, Temitope Omosowon, has opened up about the emotional and financial regrets surrounding his marriage, revealing that he wishes he could take back the traditional gifts he gave to his wife’s family during their union. In a candid interview on Biola Adebayo’s YouTube channel, Omosowon disclosed that the woman who gave birth to his child, Okiki, is the same person he married legally. Despite organizing a wedding and fulfilling all traditional obligations, including presenting yams and other foodstuffs to her family, he now feels deeply disappointed and betrayed.
He described the marriage as a regrettable decision, expressing dissatisfaction not just with his wife, but with her family as well. Omosowon claimed that his in-laws treated him with contempt, labeling him an orphan and even falsely accusing him of coming from an orphanage background. According to him, their poor treatment stemmed from an assumption that he could not afford a proper wedding. Despite their low expectations, the actor stated that he went ahead with the wedding, pulling all necessary resources together to ensure the event took place.
He said: “It was the woman who gave birth to Okiki (my child) that I married legally. I even had a wedding for her. However, I regret marrying my wife and wish I could collect back the yam and foodstuffs I gave her parents. She and her parents are not worthy of eating those foodstuffs. She is not wife material. Even her parents are not welcoming. They called me an orphan and even lied that I was from an orphanage. They thought I wouldn’t be able to afford the wedding, but I did. On that day, I even had to rent a father for my wedding, including some other family members. Even on my wedding day, they tried to fight my family and lied that they bought clothes for my father, not knowing that I had rented the man.”
