“If the terrorist group does not withdraw its forces past the Litani River or breaches the ceasefire, Israel will not hesitate to take action against it,” Katz said. Katz said, “We have taken out the snake’s teeth, and we will crush its head if Hezbollah does not withdraw past the Litani and tries to break the ceasefire.”
Israel and Hezbollah have long been at odds over the Litani River, which flows through southern Lebanon. Israel has frequently demanded that Hezbollah remove its troops from the region, pointing to worries about the organization’s armed buildup and possible future assaults. Israel has launched airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Syria and Lebanon during the two sides’ intermittent skirmishes.
