The Russian Government is ready to help Nigeria improve its fight against terrorism, as reported by PM NEWS . This message was delivered by Lt.-Gen. Andrei Averianov during a meeting with Gen. Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, in Abuja. Averianov mentioned that Russia has been involved in special operations in 39 countries and developed effective strategies that could benefit Nigeria. He acknowledged that Nigeria faces serious threats from groups like Boko Haram and Al-Qaeda, and he believes Russia can provide valuable support.
He also pointed out Nigeria’s important role in the region and referred to Russia’s past fight against Nazism. He emphasized Russia’s commitment to aid Nigeria in making the country safer.’As brothers in arms, we are ready to assist, particularly with the provision of the full range of weapons required by the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to prosecute its war on terror,” Averianov said. In response, Gen. Musa thanked the Russian delegation for their support, welcoming them on behalf of President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian military. He noted the challenges both countries face, which have resulted in losses and required focused military operations. Musa acknowledged the strong relationship between Nigeria and Russia and stressed the need to maintain this partnership as they tackle ongoing security issues
