The Katsina State Command has arrested four suspects who specialized in supplying military and police uniforms to bandits and other terrorist groups in the state.
The command’s spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Katsina.
Aliyu stated that the police apprehended one of the suspects on November 19 at about 1 p.m. in Danmusa Local Government Area during a routine patrol along the Yantumaki-Kankara highway.
The PPRO said the suspect was found in possession of two pairs of military uniforms neatly concealed in a black polythene bag.
“In the course of the investigation, three more suspects were also apprehended in connection with the offence.
“They include a 29-year-old, Lawal Ahmad; Isma’il Dalhatu, 24, both of Basawa quarters, Sabon Gari, Zaria, Kaduna State; and Shafi’u Adamu, 28, of Danjaba village, Soba LGA, also in Kaduna State.
“14 pairs of military uniforms and one police uniform were recovered from the suspects, which were believed to be intended for delivery to the armed bandits for their criminal operations in Katsina State,” he stated.
The police image maker disclosed that the suspects confessed to committing the offence during the investigation, adding that they would soon be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
Aliyu quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, as commending the operatives for their professionalism and dedication to duty, which led to the successful arrest of all the suspects.
The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police urged the public to continue providing useful information that would assist in the fight against banditry and other acts of terrorism in the state.
