Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Thursday called French President Emmanuel Macron’s position on potentially extending Paris’s nuclear umbrella to European partners “very promising.”
According to Tusk, European countries will have to treat Macron’s proposal seriously.
Recall that Macron, during a speech on Wednesday, announced he would discuss extending France’s nuclear deterrent to other European nations.
However, speaking to reporters in Brussels, Tusk said, “This readiness of France, this is something very promising.”
“We have to treat this proposal seriously,” he added.
Tusk also reiterated a call for Europe to strengthen its defenses against Russia.
“It must be one of our priorities to coordinate all our capacities in Europe and to build, in fact, one well-coordinated military power.
“This is what can give us a clear advantage against Russia,” Tusk added.
