1. Zamfara State police command has accused the newly identified terror group, Lakurawa, of being responsible for the recent explosions that rocked two villages in Dansadau district, Maru Local Government Area (LGA) of the state. 7. Human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, was on Wednesday remanded in prison for allegedly defaming a legal luminary and founder of Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN. Farotimi was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday morning.
8. The Senate on Wednesday summoned the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Chris Najomo; airline operators and other relevant stakeholders over the incessant flight delays and cancellations by airlines.
9. Despite the commencement of petrol production by two major refineries in Nigeria in the last three months, oil marketers have continued to import and distribute the product nationwide. Reports emerged on Wednesday that marketers imported 2.3 billion litres of petrol between September 11 and December 5, 2024.
10. The Senate approved the Investments and Securities (Repeal and Enactment) Bill 2024 for its third reading on Wednesday. The passage followed the consideration and adoption of recommendations presented by the Senate Committee on Capital Market, chaired by Senator Osita Izunaso (APC, Imo West).
