The Nasarawa State government has gifted its Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side, Nasarawa Amazons a sum of N10 million to aid their preparation for the 2024-25 season.
The state governor, Abdullahi Sule, made the donation while receiving the team at the Government House in Lafia on Wednesday.
Sule assured the team of addressing their challenges before the commencement of the new season.
DAILY POST recalls that Nasarawa Amazons recently emerged champions at a pre-season tournament in Edo State.
“I wish to inform you that the challenges you made mention of have been pencilled down for tackling, and very soon, they will be taken care of,” Sule stated during the meeting with the team.
“I also learnt you won a prize money of ten million naira as Champions of the Women’s Football Pre-season Tournament in Edo State. I am adding ten million naira to that prize money to further boost your morale.”
A date for the commencement of the 2024-25 NWFL season is yet to be announced by the organisers.
