During a live broadcast on Symfoni TV, Wike recalled the controversy surrounding the presidential election. “When the Presidential thing came, all of you were angry that it was a Muslim-Muslim ticket,” he said. “But today, a Christian is the Minister of FCT. No Christian has ever become an FCT Minister before, so it is not about religion but it is about the person.”
The Minister criticized religious leaders who mix faith with political guidance, stating, “Don’t come to church to tell the members that you can’t vote for these people and that people because of their religion; it doesn’t work that way.” He emphasized this point further, adding, “You can have a Christian-Christian and nothing will happen; don’t bring religion to it.”
Wike also revealed details about his appointment process, describing it as contentious. “Look at me today, who would have ever believed that I will be the FCT Minister?” he remarked. “It was a big battle, but the President put his feet down and said, ‘No, this is the person I want.”
