Yusuf Datti, the former vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party has stated that he and Peter Obi gave a scholarship to a 17-year-old tricycle rider who found and returned ₦15 million.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Datti said shortly after their gesture, an elected government official stood up and donated ₦250 million, a quarter of a billion naira, to the same boy. He said the official did this because he (Datti) and Obi gave scholarship to the tricycle driver

Datti said, “Peter Obi and I gave scholarship to a 17-year-old tricycle driver who returned 15 million naira found and another elected official stood up and donated 250 million naira, quarter of a billion naira, because Peter and I gave scholarship, thinking that money is all about it. Why wouldn’t such people go and steal the resources of their states or their country”
