Following surgery to remove his prostate, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is recuperating in a secure hospital room, according to Anadolu Agency. According to the statement, the prime minister has awoken, is in good health, and is fully cognizant. Netanyahu will spend a few days in the hospital. As a precaution against possible rocket fire, he was moved to a secure underground ward, underscoring the region’s persistent security issues.

Justice Minister Yariv Levin has been appointed acting prime minister during Netanyahu’s recovery. This development also means Netanyahu will miss his scheduled court testimony in a corruption trial this week.The surgery comes amidst heightened tensions. Two days earlier, Israeli forces conducted a raid on the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, resulting in widespread destruction and forcing patients to flee.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s military operations in Gaza have claimed over 45,500 lives and devastated the enclave.

International legal bodies, including the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, are pursuing cases against Netanyahu and other Israeli officials for alleged war crimes and genocide.
