Quadri: The Boy Was Asked to Go, the Lawyer Took Him to That Presidential Candidate First – According to Lagos CP

 

The circumstances behind the arrest of Alabi Quadri, a young man at the heart of a recent dispute, have been clarified by Moshood, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police. In a Channels Television interview, CP Moshood addressed allegations made by Quadri’s attorney that the youngster was coerced into making a statement while being held by the police. He said that basic questions like name, age, and address are not things someone can be forced to say under duress. “The boy said he was 18 years old, and that’s what we based our official statements on,” Moshood added.

The Commissioner also criticized the lawyer for making serious claims on TV without putting anything in writing. He said that if there were real issues or complaints against the police or the officers involved, the proper step would be to write them down and submit them for official investigation.

Moshood warned against mixing politics with criminal investigations. He pointed out that the lawyer quickly connected the case to a well-known presidential candidate instead of letting the legal process take its course. “If someone commits a crime, it doesn’t matter if they are close to a presidential candidate or a media personality—they should face the law,” he said.

He also stated that Quadri was asked to go, but instead of following up properly, his lawyer took him to meet a political figure. “When the boy was asked to go, the lawyer took him to that presidential candidate first,” he said. The CP stressed that crime and politics should be kept separate to avoid confusion and manipulation.
