In an exclusive interview with Arise TV, Salihu Lukman, the former APC Vice Chairman for the North West zone, disclosed ongoing negotiations among opposition leaders. “I can tell you there are negotiations taking place. Key leaders of the opposition are involved,” he revealed, pointing to strategic political movements already in motion.
Lukman highlighted recent public appearances as evidence of these developing alliances. “When, for instance, Peter Obi delivering keynote addresses at events like the American University of Nigeria in Yola, these aren’t accidental, they are part of ongoing negotiations,” he stated. “There is a groundswell of recognition among opposition leaders that they need to come together. Nobody is being left out.”
Looking ahead, the former APC chieftain outlined a timeline for these political developments. “I believe that by the middle or end of 2025, things will become clearer. The direction of our progress will be evident,” he said. He further emphasized the strategic considerations at play, noting: “The key question is: On what platform will we contest the 2027 elections? Negotiations are ongoing, and the options are clear. Before the middle of 2025, we’ll provide answers.”
