Serie A: Gasperini credits Lookman for Atalanta’s impressive form

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has credited Ademola Lookman for the club’s impressive form.

La Dea won the UEFA Europa League last season, their first major title since the 1962/63 campaign.

Lookman scored a historic hat-trick in the final against Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

The Nigeria international has also been in impressive form for the club this season.

The winger has so far registered nine goals and five assists in 15 appearances across all competitions for Atalanta.

“We are in a good period of form in Italy and Europe. I’m happy with the performances and results we are getting,” Gasperini told reporters.

“Winning the Europa League last season helped us grow in confidence and self-belief. Many new players have arrived and are improving, but it was last season’s success, driven by players like Lookman, that set the tone.”
