Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has denied claims that he is a land grabber in relation to the Ibadan Circular Road project. The governor clarified that the controversy arose from his administration’s efforts to relocate a mechanic workshop near Gbagi Market as part of a broader plan to upgrade the Ladoke Akintola Airport to international standards.
According to Tribune, Makinde revealed that a man who had publicly accused him of theft was found to have no connection to the mechanic site, and was allegedly brought in from Lagos to discredit the government.
Addressing concerns about the setbacks affecting the Circular Road project, Makinde explained that land grabbers, not setbacks, were the root cause of the challenges.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to resolving these issues by compensating those affected, even in cases where they might not be entitled to compensation.
Makinde reassured the public that his government operates transparently and in the best interests of the people.
