Halisu Sahabi, an assistant superintendent of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was slain by a suspected online scammer during a raid in Awka, Anambra State, on Friday. His family has buried him in Sokoto State. As previously reported, the culprit, a doctor, who attacked the EFCC agents was taken into custody by the Anambra State Police Command on Saturday. Chukwuka Josiah Ikechukwu Nnamdi, a native of Ifite, Awka, Anambra State, has been identified as the suspect.
SaharaReporters claims that top police sources informed them on Saturday that Dr. Ikechukwu Nnamdi was taken into custody as he was hiding in his neighbor’s room’s ceiling following the crime. Following the alleged fraudster’s shooting, Halisu was flown to Sokoto State for burial when it was determined that he was dead.
Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff, reportedly traveled to Awka, the capital of Anambra State, to make arrangements for the EFCC agent to be transported to Sokoto State for Islamic burial, according to SaharaReporters.
In accordance with Muslim customs, he was laid to rest this afternoon in Sokoto. Salisu was supposed to marry after the next fasting season, but he tragically passed away while performing his duties after his team was sent to Awka to confront suspected online scammers without a bulletproof vest. SaharaReporters received an explanation from a family source.
“The gunman was arrested by the police and EFCC operatives in the ceiling of his neighbor’s room,” a senior police source told SaharaReporters on Saturday. “He shot and killed the EFCC agent, then threw his father’s short pump action gun—which he had a license for—into the bush.”
“He initially hid in his ceiling before crawling to his neighbor’s ceiling, where he was apprehended and held by the police.” In order to defend his claim that he killed in self-defense, his father went to the police station. “No bulletproof vest was worn by any of the EFCC officers sent for the night operation. They simply donned their EFCC-branded jackets.
“Despite his claim that he shot and killed the EFCC agent in self-defense, his killer, Chukwuka Josiah ikechukwu Nnamdi from Ifite, Awka, is presently being held at the SCID and is likely to be charged with murder.” SaharaReporters was also informed by police sources that Dr. Nnamdi killed the EFCC officer and wounded another officer before throwing the gun out of the window.
“He stated that his father had a license for this firearm.” “The police source added.” According to SaharaReporters, the officers were attacked on Friday morning while attempting to arrest a group of suspected hackers.
A group of EFCC officers from the EFCC Enugu Zonal command were dispatched to arrest suspected online scammers in Awka, Anambra State, according to information obtained by SaharaReporters. “They were able to raid and arrest multiple individuals with evidence, including credit cards and four opulent cars, after arriving in Awka early to the first residence of suspected fraudsters.”
SaharaReporters was notified on Saturday by a reliable source. “The police in Awka obstructed and delayed the EFCC officers when they arrested the initial group of suspected “yahoo guys,” claiming they had not obtained permission to conduct such an operation before entering their jurisdiction.”
The police source gave more details. They then went to another place, but apparently discovered they were short-staffed and had to move to a smaller one. When I got there, I saw that there were other apartments there. They instructed the gatemen to direct them to the suspected person’s location.
Apparently thinking they might be burglars or kidnappers, he hesitated to unlock his door. “When the person of interest refused to open his door, they said they were EFCC agents when asked who they were.” SaharaReporters had discovered that the suspect refused to unlock the door, citing the possibility that the operatives were kidnappers or thieves.
“The suspect opened fire on the lead individual, an EFCC agent named Salisu, when the EFCC team broke into his flat. “A second operator was hurt in his left hand, but he was still alive despite his severe injuries. The operative was hurried to a hospital by the operatives. There were no physicians in the Awka General Hospital when they arrived. The top source went on to say, “There were only two hospital nurses present who suggested that they seek out a private hospital.”
After that, the EFCC agents traveled to Amaco Hospital, where the on-duty physician pronounced the EFCC agent deceased. He did, however, accept the wounded EFCC agent, stating that a blood transfusion was necessary for his treatment. SaharaReporters was informed that “all of the EFCC officers sent to the night operation had only their branded EFCC jackets and no bulletproof vest.” SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the event and said that investigations were being conducted.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
