Showunmi Responds After Obi Told People In USA That Nigeria Has More Poor People Than China, Indonesia

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Segun Showunmi has reacted after the former governor of Anambra state and Labour Party, LP, candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Gregory Obi spoke about the poverty level in Nigeria while addressing an audience in the United State of America. According to the post that Peter Obi shared on his official X handle on Friday, he said while he was addressing the people at the Johns Hopkins University, he told them that Nigeria has more poor people than the combination of three countries; Vietnam, China and Indonesia.

Here is what he wrote on his official X handle;

“China alone had about 15 times the number of poor people than Nigeria. Today, however, Nigeria has more poor people than these 3 countries combined”. However, Segun Showunmi has now reacted after the post surfaced online. In a statement that he shared on his official X handle, he told Peter Obi to stop saying negative things about the country he intends to govern.

 

 

Here is what Segun Showunmi wrote on his page;

“No one who wishes to lead a nation called Nigeria must be the de-marketer on steroids of the same country he or she wishes to lead. Stop it immediately”.
