In an interview with The Guardian, Fubara noted a key success in resolving a promotion backlog for government employees that had persisted for over eleven years. Upon taking office, he inherited a monthly wage bill of approximately N5.3 billion. His administration addressed promotions for around 54,000 employees, raising the bill to about N8 billion, while ensuring timely salary payments.
He introduced a minimum wage of N85,000 but acknowledged the need to balance workers’ rights with the state’s financial health, stressing transparency.
Fubara said, “I don’t like talking because it looks as if you are trying to run down the past administration.”
