There Will Be No Political Parties in 2027, Says Akpabio by Citynobs May 17, 2025, 4:23 am According to The Vanguard, Senate President Godswill Akpabio declared on Friday that political party structures would become irrelevant in Akwa Ibom State by the 2027 general elections. Speaking at a midterm empowerment briefing at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, Akpabio claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had collapsed and its “umbrella” could no longer protect the people. Representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Akpabio stated that all political parties in the region had united behind him for the Senate, Governor Umo Eno for governor, and President Bola Tinubu at the national level. He said, “In 2027, there will be no political party left in Akwa Ibom. Everyone will vote for Tinubu, Eno, and Akpabio.” Akpabio described Governor Eno as a man of peace and deep faith, contrasting him with those who only profess godliness with words. He credited Eno with uniting the people of the state. During the event, 1,690 constituents received empowerment items, including 30 minibuses, 67 tricycles, 50 cassava processing machines, 347 deep freezers, 247 generators, cookers, cash grants, and bags of rice. Akpabio also praised his wife, Unoma Akpabio, for her ongoing efforts to assist the people through empowerment initiatives. “She empowers the people regardless of my presence because hunger has no political party,” he said. The Senate President also announced the commissioning of 68 projects across his constituency between May 16 and 17, 2025. Essien Udim Local Government Chairman lauded Akpabio’s consistent service, noting his dedication from his days as commissioner to governor and now Senate President.
