The judgment, which effectively sacked Okocha’s executive, has been described by the APC as another example of alleged judicial manipulation under Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration. Okocha accused the Rivers judiciary of operating like a “supermarket” under Fubara’s control, claiming it serves the Governor’s political interests rather than justice.
“The judiciary in Rivers State has become Governor Fubara’s supermarket,” Okocha mocked, during a press briefing. “The court ruling against us is of no effect because party decisions are supreme. The judiciary cannot dictate how a party functions internally.”
Okocha further criticized Governor Fubara for allegedly meddling in judicial processes. “I pray for Governor Fubara, that he changes his life; otherwise, the wrath of God will descend,” Okocha warned.
The APC faction also addressed concerns over a newly appointed judge from a historically significant region in the country. Without naming the judge directly, they hinted at perceived biases in recent judicial decisions affecting the party.
While the court ruling has sparked controversy, the Okocha-led faction remains defiant, stating that it will appeal the judgment and continue its activities as the legitimate leadership of the APC in Rivers State.
This development is the latest in a series of political and legal battles in Rivers, highlighting the deep divisions within the state’s political landscape. Observers are watching closely to see how the APC navigates these challenges as it prepares for future elections.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
