Two decades after, Katsina Govt moves to revamp 10MW Lambar Rimi Wind Project

The Katsina State Government has unveiled plans to revamp 10MW Wind Farm in Lambar Rimi after nearly two decades.

Governor Dikko Radda made this known during a meeting with Vergnet Groupe — the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) in Paris, France.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Mohammed, in a statement issued Sunday, said Radda assured that his administration was committed to working closely with Vergnet Groupe to rehabilitate the asset and restore its capacity to support the state’s growing energy needs.

He noted: “The Governor included plans for a 10MW Solar Farm to complement the wind project. This will provide clean and renewable energy to power approximately to 4,400 homes across Katsina State.

“These projects are integral to Katsina State’s vision to become a leading renewable energy hub in Nigeria and contribute to the country’s broader transition to a sustainable energy future.”

The governor emphasized the importance of the wind farm to the region’s energy infrastructure, adding that his administration remained dedicated to ensuring its sustainable operation in line with Nigeria’s Renewable Energy Master Plan and the 2060 net-zero goals.
