A woman in her 30s has tragically died following an assault in Cork city centre on Sunday evening.
The victim, named locally as 36-year-old Vanessa O’Callaghan, died on Wednesday from injuries sustained during the incident, according to Irish broadcaster RTÉ.
Ms. O’Callaghan, who had reportedly been using homeless services for several years, was discovered unresponsive near the Savoy Cinema on St. Patrick’s Street after an altercation erupted close to a soup kitchen.
The assault occurred between 19:15 and 20:15 local time, Gardaí (Irish police) confirmed.
Authorities have launched an appeal for information, urging witnesses or individuals with dash-cam footage from the area during the time of the incident to come forward.
