Yuletide: Ogun Amotekun assures residents of safety, security

Commander of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, Alade Adedigba, has said the security outfit has restrategized its operations to ensure law and order during and after the festive season.

Adedigba stated this during a show of force parade held in Abeokuta during the weekend.

The corps commander while fielding questions from newsmen, assured residents of maximum security, saying the agency has what it takes to maintain peace and order.

He insisted that the public should be reminded of their stand and zero tolerance for criminals since the holiday season tends to draw crowds and criminal groups.

The commander said, “The primary objective behind the show of force is to show our capabilities in terms of men, equipment and materials and to let people know during this period that the agency has what it takes in terms of maintaining peace and order in the state.

“This morning, we paraded several vehicles with several motorbikes; this is to show that when there are issues, men can always respond swiftly, and that’s exactly what we have demonstrated.

” You have to agree with me that during the festive period, there would be a massive movement of people from one place to another, there has been a lot of gathering in terms of organizing parties, religious activities and others. So when you see this, there’s no doubt aside from the fact there may be an element of criminality and miscreant and others.

“And for you to stop that from happening, you need to be proactive, in terms that we had to reaccess our security strategy so that we will be able to stop any form of security breaches”, he added.

Adedigba, however, advised members of the public to be on alert and report any suspicious movement, adding that, they are the closest security agency to the grassroots.
