As reported by Daily Trust on March 28, the mob vandalized the victims’ vehicle, discovered hunting dane guns, and wrongly assumed they were kidnappers. The horrifying situation escalated, leading to the mob burning the victims alive. A disturbing video circulated online showed the deceased being gathered by local youths before being set on fire.
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have both denounced the act as barbaric and unacceptable, pledging to ensure that those responsible face justice. Governor Okpebholo highlighted that taking another person’s life is never justified and expressed alarm over the nature of this killing.
The incident has prompted a strong outcry from Nigerians, many of whom are demanding justice and an end to such senseless violence.
