2026 WCQ: Zimbabwe’s Warriors aim to defeat the Super Eagles for the first time in forty-four years

Since then, there have been seven meetings between the two sides, with the Super Eagles winning four and drawing three. Only twice have the Warriors traveled to Nigeria to play a competitive match. They lost 3–0 in the 1989 AFCON qualifier and 5–1 in the 2005 World Cup qualifier. In a friendly match in Lagos in 2019, both teams fought to a scoreless draw.
