Transfer: ‘I’m sorry about his transfer’ – Bonucci speaks on Italian star joining Arsenal

Former Juventus defender, Leonardo Bonucci, has expressed disappointment that Riccardo Calafiori is moving to Arsenal.

Arsenal would be announcing the signing of Calafiori any moment from now after a superb Euro 2024 campaign, where he was a standout performer for Gli Azzurri.

Bonucci, a legend at Old Lady, wishes the Bologna defender had moved to his former side.

“I’m sorry about his transfer. I would have liked to see him at Juventus,” he told Sky Sports.

Juventus were seemingly frontrunners to sign the 22-year-old Italian left-back before the European Championships.

The tournament allowed Mikel Arteta’s side to get a glimpse at talent they were perhaps unaware of heading into the competition.

Arsenal have agreed on a deal with Bologna worth around €50 million (£42 million).

“He’s a defender who’s a little different to what we’re used to seeing…” he added.
