Abubakar Yesufu echos the sentiments of Bode George, former Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had advised Atiku to abandon his presidential ambition and take a backstage role.
Atiku’s presidential bid has been a longstanding one, spanning over three decades. While he is widely regarded as a strong candidate, some opposition leaders believe it’s time for him to step aside and allow younger, more energetic leaders to take the reins.
In his own words, “I don’t know how you want to really pilot change from far away Dubai, you are like an absentee aspirant. If Atiku wants us to take him seriously, let him come back to Nigeria with his newly wedded wife. All I’m saying is that he should be close to the theater of war, Dubai is too far a place to take that. Atiku is a very good candidate, but I tend to believe Bode George when he begged Atiku to take the back stage.
