The United States House of Representatives is urging former President Donald Trump to consider imposing sanctions on Nigeria, citing the ongoing violence and killings targeting Christians in the country.

The call for potential sanctions against Nigeria comes after a congressional hearing that shed light on the escalating religious persecution within the country. Lawmakers and experts presented detailed accounts of the widespread violence targeting Christians and other minority groups, painting a grim picture of the situation.

The hearing focused on the persistent attacks carried out by Islamist extremist groups, which have led to a devastating loss of life, with thousands killed, and widespread mass displacement. Discussions centered on the scale of the violence and its impact on the affected communities.

While reacting to this report, the outspoken activist took to his official X to air out his view.

According to the former Senator, he said that:

“The US should not impose any form of sanctions on Nigeria for whatever reason. Its condemnable to even contemplate anything of such.

“If the US has issues with individuals in Nigeria, they can deal with them directly since most of them have accounts, properties and investments in their country Or they wait for them whenever they visit the US.”
