Traditional Ruler and well-known Niger Delta leader Asari Dokubu has talked about his bond with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a long time. He clarified in an interview with Channels Television that their relationship transcends politics, wealth, and influence.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
Asari Dokubu revealed that he and Tinubu have been close since 1992 when they met during the campaign for MKO Abiola. Even when Tinubu went into exile, they remained in contact. He shared that Tinubu had supported him in difficult times, even making sacrifices for him.
Now that Tinubu is president, Asari Dokubu believes the responsibility of maintaining their friendship lies more with Tinubu. He pointed out that things have changed because the president is surrounded by many people and has a tight security setup. Unlike before, he can no longer visit him freely like he did in Bourdillon, Lagos.
Despite the challenges, Asari Dokubu made it clear that his loyalty to Tinubu is not based on fear but on genuine friendship. He emphasized that relationships should be valued more than money or political power.
“I can’t leave Ahmed Bola Tinubu; it’s not because I’m afraid of him, but relationship matters; friendships are more than money, more than everything,” he said.
He also acknowledged the difficulties Tinubu is facing as president, saying that leadership comes with challenges. According to him, seeing his friend go through tough times makes him sad, and sometimes, he even cries.
