According to The Sun, in a statement released on Thursday, March 13, 2025, George said that Wike’s comments about the Rivers crisis were too harsh, dangerous, and embarrassing.
He was responding to Wike’s remarks in the media after Tinubu met with Niger Delta leaders and asked them to find a permanent solution to the political crisis in Rivers State.
George said that Wike’s reaction completely weakened Tinubu’s efforts. He wondered if the President was keeping some information hidden because he could not understand why a minister would openly embarrass the government in such a way.
He said, “I watched him, and I am still wondering what exactly Wike is trying to achieve by heating the polity. The questions I want to ask Tinubu, based on Wike’s rhetoric, are: ‘Is Wike the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces? Is he the Chief Justice of Nigeria or Chief Judge of Rivers State? Is he the Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly? Does he control all the forces in the state?’”
Further talking, George stated that when Wike spoke, he portrayed himself as having immense and imaginary power, to the point that people were now confused about who was actually in charge between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nyesom Wike.
He questioned whether Wike had ever fought a war and wondered what game Tinubu was playing in the Rivers crisis.
Expressing concern, he asked what was truly happening, emphasizing that history had shown that while the beginning of a crisis might be known, its outcome remained unpredictable.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
