BREAKING: Atiku Leads Opposition Leaders to Discuss Tinubu’s Emergency Rule in Rivers

The conference will discuss President Bola Tinubu’s announcement of a state of emergency in Rivers State, which was made public on his X handle by Atiku’s special adviser on broadcast media, Abdul Rasheed Shehu. In a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday night, President Tinubu declared that all members of the State House of Assembly, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and his deputy Ngozi Odu would be suspended for six months, and that retired Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd.) would serve as the state’s sole administrator.

The proclamation must be ratified by the National Assembly in order for it to become legally binding, but neither the Senate nor the House of Representatives discussed the issue on Wednesday. Tinubu’s decision must receive a two-thirds majority approval in both chambers today.
