Adebanjo passed away quietly at his home in Lekki, Lagos State. Here is an official statement from his family: “We announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Chief Samuel Ayodele Adebanjo, with a heart full of gratitude for a selfless life spent in the service of God, the nation, and humanity.” in the age of 96, he passed away quietly this morning, Friday, February 14, 2025, in his home in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.
“His 94-year-old wife, Chief Christy Ayo-Adebanjo, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren survive the prominent nationalist, elder statesman, renowned lawyer, very different politician, advocate of true federalism, former organizing secretary of Action Group, and national leader of Afenifere.” We shall always be grateful for his dedication to upholding justice, equity, and the truth. He fought to the end of his life because he firmly believed in and supported a Nigeria that was genuinely independent and forward-thinking.
