A six-month suspension for the senator was the panel’s recommendation. During the suspension period, the committee further suggested that her office be locked and that she and her legislative assistants be prohibited from entering the National Assembly’s premises. Additionally, their pay would be withheld. Regarding the chamber’s seating arrangements, Senator Natasha and Senate President Godswill Akpabio clashed in February. She accused Akpabio of sexual harassment a few days later, which caused the issue to worsen.
In response to Senator Natasha’s accusations against Akpabio, Remi Tinubu President Bola Tinubu’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commented on the controversy surrounding Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Speaking ahead of International Women’s Day, Senator Tinubu stated that the Senate is a “matured” institution that deserves respect.
“I believe that Senate is doing what is needful,” she said, expressing confidence that members are managing the matter responsibly. Twelve-year Senate veteran Senator Tinubu encouraged women to take charge of leadership positions and resist marginalization. “You can always shut them down before they start,” she said, advising women to maintain their composure and assert their authority.
