Babafemi Ojudu, a former Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, has claimed that his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, did not want Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), who was his deputy at the time, or Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is currently President and a former governor of Lagos State, to succeed him. “I knew Osinbajo was going to lose the primary,” stated Ojudu, a former member of the Buhari Administration’s Office of the Vice President. “I anticipated it. “I kept saying at our meeting that all of the efforts we are making, like traveling around, persuading people, and addressing delegates, is only 40 percent because of the system we operated and are still operating.”
60% of it is in Buhari’s hands, and we won’t make any progress until he rallies his supporters, including the governors and his advisers. “I used to call Buhari a one-man majority because he never rallied his team to support Osinbajo, and I believe Tinubu outwitted him in a lot of ways.” Ojudu likened Osinbajo to Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the late Western Region Premier. “I backed Osinbajo to be president,” he stated.
“After seeing him up close, I was convinced. He was the finest candidate to lead Nigeria at the moment, in my opinion, based on his work style, philosophy, depth of knowledge, and sense of patriotism.
