A resident, who spoke to our correspondent, confirmed that villagers were forced to flee on Monday night after losing hope of any security intervention.
“I am currently in Upu. I escaped with my family tonight. The entire community has been abandoned,” he said.
Olena has been under attack for days. Many people have been killed, and others kidnapped. We have been crying for help, but no security agents have come to our aid. I barely managed to escape with my life and my family,” he added.
