During a courtesy visit to Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC Borno South) this past weekend, the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNGs) leadership criticized the former Senate Chief Whip for opposing the contentious Tax Reform Bills and other policies that they claimed were anti-people under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
Remember how Mr. Tinubu promised to get things going as soon as he assumed office? He then eliminated the long-standing fuel subsidy, forcing people to purchase Premium Motor Spirit, also known as gasoline, at prices ranging from around N600 to over N1000 per liter, which led to an increase in the cost of goods and services over the past 1.5 years.
Furthermore, the President forwarded a Tax Reforms Bill to the national assembly, which was widely condemned. One of the most powerful Nigerian lawmakers, Senator Ndume, publicly and on multiple fora, rejected the bill.
Speaking to Ndume on Saturday, Mallam Aminu Adam, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustee (BOT), and Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the National Coordinator, led other Executive Members of the CNGs. They stated that the coalition, which is nonpartisan, felt it was necessary to visit the Southern Borno Senator, who has proven to be a true representative of the people, particularly the Northerners who provided the overwhelming support and votes that elected Tinubu as president in the most recent general elections in 2023.
They claimed that in the less than two years of the Tinubu-led APC Government, the average person, particularly those in the northern regions of the country, has not been affected by the Renewed Hope Agenda because, in addition to the skyrocketing prices of commodities, many people find it extremely difficult to obtain basic healthcare, education, and other necessities because of inflation, let alone eat two square meals a day.
We are here specifically to thank you, Senator Ndume, for consistently standing up for and representing the interests of the average Nigerian. “Despite being chosen to represent the people of Southern Borno, you have distinguished yourself as the best senator in the entire country due to your concern and enthusiasm for the general populace.
“In the process of speaking the truth, especially when it involves criticizing the government’s poor policies and programs, we want to stand with you and will continue to offer you our full support and cooperation.”
In response, Senator Ndume thanked the CNG delegation for the visit while urging them to follow the law and have patience with the current administration. He said he would continue to offer the government constructive criticism and the necessary advice to promote progress and development at all levels.
The National Secretary General, Engineer Hamza Muktar, Dr. Muhammad Nawaili, Dr. Aminu Nasanye, Muhammad Muhammad, Hussaini Ibrahim, Muhammad Eneji, and Abdurazak Adamu, who hold directorships at different levels within the Coalition, are among the other members of the CNG delegation.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
