Governor Mohammed voiced alarm about the mounting discontent among the PDP’s founding members and important stakeholders in an interview with BBC Hausa on Saturday.
He claimed that because of the party’s ongoing leadership upheaval, many of them are thinking about quitting.
He claimed that in order to sow division and weaken the party’s unity, the APC had deliberately infiltrated the PDP and planted people inside.
He said, “There is a black sheep among us who is trying to destabilize us on behalf of the APC.”
The upcoming departures of high-ranking PDP members, the governor cautioned, might seriously damage the party and imperil its prospects in upcoming elections. “You mentioned that Attahiru Bafarawa, the former governor of Sokoto, left the party; I can tell you that more powerful people are about to do the same,” he remarked.
Before the general elections in 2027, Mohammed disclosed that some irate members are even thinking about creating a new political platform. In spite of this, he urged unity and patience and expressed hope that the problem would be handled. We must unite in order to fortify the PDP. After that, we can create a plan to win the upcoming elections and establish a government that better serves Nigerians,” he stated. Governor Mohammed also attacked the judiciary, saying that it has been rendering inconsistent decisions that have made the PDP’s leadership problem worse. “The courts are not on our side. He urged resentful members to remain and participate in the ongoing reconciliation process, reaffirming his dedication to preventing the PDP from collapsing.
