In a 48-hour ultimatum, a northern Nigerian man urged President Bola Tinubu and Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo to take swift action to apprehend those responsible for the murders of 16 Northerners in Uromi, Edo State, warning that Southerners residing in the North would face retaliation if they did not.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
The unnamed man voiced his concerns about the killings in the three-minute, 30-second video that SaharaReporters was able to obtain. He said that Northerners would not tolerate such attacks. He suggested that Southerners should be held accountable for any retaliation in the North. While condemning those who seek justice for Deborah Samuel, a student who was burned alive in Sokoto State over alleged blasphemy, he defended her killing by claiming she had insulted the Prophet Muhammad. He questioned why Christians in the South would critique the episode, noting that Northerners had never offended Jesus Christ.
He added that since Prophet Isa (Jesus) is acknowledged as Allah’s messenger, a Muslim who disparages Jesus in Islam is no longer considered a Muslim. In his explanation of the religious distinctions between Muslims and Christians, the man said that Muslims only recognize Jesus as a prophet and messenger of Allah, whilst Christians consider him to be God. He cautioned that any retaliatory violence against Southerners in the North should be attributed to Southern leaders like Tinubu and Okpebholo if nothing is done to apprehend those who killed them in Edo.
He addressed President Tinubu and Governor Okpebholo directly, reminding them that many Southerners reside in Northern states such as Borno, Kano, Jos, Kaduna, and Adamawa. Regardless of whether the Southerners affected were from Edo or another location, he threatened to hold them responsible for any consequences resulting from the Uromi killings. As per his statement, “Good morning, dear Nigerians. As a result, I have observed many people grumbling about justice for Deborah. If you haven’t forgotten the Southerners, then you should know that Deborah wasn’t killed pointlessly. Deborah was slain because she abused the Holy Prophets, our prophets. Our beloved Prophet. Prophet SAW Muhammad.
“No, have you ever witnessed any Northerners mistreating Jesus? No, there have never been any Northerners who have mistreated Jesus. However, you believe that we will remain silent while those dimwitted Christians—the dimwitted and the dumpiest among you—abused the Holy Prophet.
According to the law, anyone who mistreats our Prophet will be put to death. Jesus has never been mistreated by us, and we never will. Since you are unaware, let me tell you that Islam is our faith. You are no longer a Muslim if you mistreat Jesus. Prophet Isa, peace be upon him, is that person. His name is Prophet Isa, but as we all know, he bit Jesus. “The first thing that separates us from you people is that we only think that Jesus is a prophet and a messenger from Allah, which is God, the Creator of all creators,” he stated. Remember that when you think of a human being as a god, picture him as a prophet and a messenger.
“Let me tell you something, if this actions are not taken against this 16 Northerners that are killed in Edo,anything that follows to your people here in the North, you are the people that cause it.” This is a direct letter to his Excellency, Mr. Monday, the governor of Edo State, and to you, Mr. President Bola Tinubu. Many people in your community live in the northern states, especially in Adamawa, Borno, Kano, Jos, and Kaduna. We won’t mind if you’re from Edo or Cotedevoir because there are a lot of Christians there, but we’ll think you’re from the South. You and President Tinubu share responsibility for what will happen.
“Mr. Monday, we must act within 48 hours because we will not allow our hearts to be patient if we do this in a hard manner. Let this serve as the final caution. Time is not against us; it is against us. Forty-eight hours is sufficient. You only have a few minutes, not even hours, Mr. President. Get those people out of here, because if nothing is done, we’ll do the same to your people. I’m grateful,” he remarked. The state governor, Monday Okpebholo, revealed that 14 suspects who were detained in connection with the savage murder of hunters from Kano State in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, had been sent to Abuja for additional questioning.
Last Thursday, the northerners were traveling to Kano for the celebrations of Sallah when they were ambushed by a crowd, had their car looted, and were killed. Nationwide indignation and demands for prompt justice were triggered by the occurrence.
