Former member of the House of Representatives Hon. Egu, who served in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, made the appeal while speaking to Imo journalists at his rural Umuohiagu residence in Imo State’s Ngor Okpala local government area. “Atiku and Obi should go and figure themselves out, because if they combine, they will cause an upstage rather than contest separately,” he added, adding that having both players on the same side would eliminate any opposition.
Egu bemoaned what he called Nigerian politics’ shift from character and integrity to money. “People are being appointed to positions they were not elected to, and elections are being rigged.” Nigeria is doomed until something is done. To be honest, I’m sorry for all of us. No matter how well you campaigned or how much your supporters love you, it makes no difference.People like me will no longer run for office because you can’t get money the old-fashioned way, put in a lot of effort to campaign, and then have someone utilize the system to screw you over.
“The political elite no longer cares about a person’s credibility or character. Party members only want to enrich themselves; they don’t care about the growth of individuals or communities. Egu stated, “I think we should evaluate people based on their character rather than their financial situation.” “Everything in Imo is about absenteeism representation from the Governor to other office holders, and I feel sorry for Ngor Okpala people, the state, and Nigeria,” the former legislator remarked in reference to Imo politics.
“I oppose any charter that was drafted by a committee of interested parties about the Imo charter of equity. Just like Ngor Okpala must make a decision and adopt a stance, we Owerri people must pick what we want and pursue it.
Not every Owerri resident should run for the same job. Game planners control Imo, but if the people of Owerri wish to elect the next governor, we should band together since we have more people, even though the Orlu zone has more local government districts.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
