During his visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, Akpabio said, “These were unavoidable circumstances, not man-made but almost natural disasters. Please accept our sympathies.” He also said, “Please accept our sympathies on the stampede that took away our very young children in Ibadan and other places in Anambra. It was not one location.”
According to Osun Defender, over 65 people were killed in fatal stampedes at palliative distribution locations in Ibadan, Anambra, and Abuja in December 2024. This led to considerable condemnation of Mr. Tinubu’s administration, with many Nigerians blaming the fatalities on poverty and hunger.
The government of Mr. Tinubu, however, denied accusations that the nation’s widespread hunger and economic misery were a factor in the catastrophic stampedes at Christmas palliative distribution locations.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
